IMPERO 2K2
Rapid developments have made the world into a global village. "EXOTICA" - Association of Electrical and Electronics Engineers at PCET - conducted a one day national level technical symposium - Impero 2K2. A glimpse at the fast paced technology in the world we live in was the idea behind Impero 2K2.

Our dream, "Impero 2K2", became a reality on 23rd August 2002 largely due to the support and encouragement of Dr.P.V.Ravi - the chairman of PCET - Dr. R.M.S. Gowda - the Principal PCET - the Secretary, the Advisor and the Executive officer.

The symposium was inaugurated by Mr.S.Murugesan, General Manager, ELGI Industries Pvt Ltd., and the keynote address was given by Mr.T.N.Shivakumar, Managing Director, Electronic Controls Corporation, Coimbatore.

More than 120 technical papers poured in from all over India, including entries from colleges in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Darjeeling. The student delegates from various Engineering colleges from all over India presented papers regarding evolution of new technologies like Neu - X - 1000 processor, Quantum teleportation, current trends in internet security through Bio-metrics, protection of underground cables, face detection in Robotics, Embedded Controllers, VLSI, DSP for motor control, AC transmission and HVDC.

In the modeling contest that was held, water level controller, musical toy, digital lock system using logic gates, finger print detection using bio-metrics and digital counter for counting the number of persons entering were displayed by the students.

The valedictory address by Dr.A.Kandaswamy, Dean School of Electrical Sciences, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore , contained valuable suggestions for the emerging Electrical Engineers.

This symposium proved to be a platform for the engineers in the making to voice their views through the various paper and model presentations and the healthy interaction that took place between them. Impero 2K2 is a testimony of the deep motivation, personal interest and lofty inspirations of the staff and students of our Electrical and Electronics department at PCET.
